Rebuilding VK2RTM

VK2RTM had a "spring clean" recently John VK2YGV , John VK2HUP and helpers went to Mount Crawney and spent a day there working on the repeater, cavities , Hut etc they soon realised it was only transmitting out just over 1w !!

Things are now much better; VK2RTM is now putting out about 40w at the moment; the repeater is sounding a lot better than it has in a long time A HUGE THANKS GUY'S!! We all benefit from it!! Another working bee is planned for the site and if you are interested please let John VK2YGV know.

Also Our new Transmit/Receive Antenna's are well and truly underway in the manufacturing dept. Soon to be taken to site and installed!  STAY TUNED!

UPDATE:

The new antenna/s has been tested and while a little "off Q" back to the drawing board and further testing is being conducted to achieve a better design, the original antenna's differ slightly in materials used when constructed and whilst they work very well we are heading for a more mechanically stable system to keep the cockatoo's from bending them and to drive us into the next "millennium" of 2 metres.......... stay tuned.

Tamworth RC Home-Hosting
This yearly project raises funds not only for the TRCI Community Clubhouse but the community as a whole. Passed on to the Radio Club by the Jaycees after they closed in 2005, it is a project that has successfully run for over 20 years offering Bed and Breakfast to the Country Music Fans during the January Festival.

IRLP on Mount Crawney
The club has agreed with a club member to sponsor the IRLP equipment to be installed for access via VK2RTM.

ECHOLINK on VK2RTM.

Well folks we now have Echolink enabled on the Local 2m Repeater all thanks to Mark VK2JMA who has kindly setup the equipment.

Annual Field Day - Training Day
After a very successful trial day of the Training Day a few years back, we are aiming to make it a yearly event held around July each year. By including some Fox Hunting, Bargain Hunting, Show & Tell and in the future Foundation License Workshops we hope to make it an event everyone would like to come to.

Looking For a New Home!

We have been looking for somewhere to call home for many years and have known for quite some time we have had to move from the current position of the Soccer Grounds.

Update!!

We now have a permanent place to call home. Thanks to the Oxley Scout Group in Carthage Street (top of Hall St) East Tamworth we are now sharing the facility's with them.  Brian VK2FOG and  John VK2YGV have worked extremely hard to further our hobby in the District and a big thanks to you both!   We also look forward to helping the Scout Group with various needs Security Monitoring , Jota , Field days, Broadband Internet , working bee's YES!!! all the things that make Amateur Radio exciting !
